Women's Track wins Carleton triangular meet

Heidi Vogel won three events to lead the St. Thomas women's indoor track and field team to a close win over St. Ben's and Carleton in Friday's triangular meet at Carleton.

The Toms won 11 events and scored 151.5 points to edge St. Ben's (148.5) and Carleton (78).

NCAA provisional qualifying times were ecliped in the 800 meters by UST's Tish Dusich (2:17.13) and Teresa Smock (2:17.89) with their 1-2 finish.

Vogel won the triple jump (34-2 1-4) and the 55 (7.49) and the 200 dashes (26.83). Crystal Baloun swept the shot put (36-7 1-2) and weight throw (43-2 1-2).

Other Tommie winners were Jill Ylonen in the long jump (16-10)(she was second in the 55 in 7.56); Mary McKee in the 400 (63.11); the 800 relay (1:49.46); Kristal Grigsby in the high jump (4-11 3-4); and Karolien Bastiaens in the pole vault (10-4 3-4).

Other second-place finishers were Alicia Wolff in the 400 (63.20); Kristen Winchell in the 600 (1:47.49); Nicole Gurgel in the 3,000 (10:57.38); Molly Bauman in the 55 hurdles (9.13); the 4x400 relay (10:37.78); and Christie Thames in the pole vault (9-9).

Third-place finishers were Bauman in the 200 (27.68); Mollie Hupp in the 800 (2:21.57); Ronni Hamilton in the 1000 (3:22.02); Thames in the high jump (4-9 3-4); Erin Ranta in the long jump (15-10 1-4); and Ellen Crow in the shot put (34-9 1-2).

Fourths were scored by Grigsby in the 55 (7.71) and Megan Seibel in the long jump (15-8 3-4).
