Women's Track wins three events at U of M Open

The St. Thomas women's indoor track and field team had three firsts and four seconds at Saturday's non-scored University of Minnesota Parents' Day Open.

Mollie Hupp won the 400 meters (59.00), Teresa Smock won the 800 meters (2:16.74) and the Toms' 800 relay also placed first (1:47.72).

In the pole vault, Karolien Bastiaens matched her school and conference record set last week as she cleared 12-0 for second place. Bastiaens also took fifth in the long jump (15-6 1-4); Megan Seibel was fifth in the triple jump (32-0); Katie Joyce was sixth in the long jump (15-2); and Ellen Crow was sixth in the shot put (37-10).

Heidi Vogel took second in the 200 meters (26.25) and triple jump (33-3 1-4). Jill Ylonen took second in the long jump (16-10 3-4) and third in the 200 (26.35). Molly Bauman was third in the 60 hurdles (9.54); Kristal Grigsby was third in the 60 dash (8.17) and fifth in the 200 (27.17); Tish Dusich was third in the 800 (2:19.13); Crystal Baloun was fourth in the weight throw (46-3 1-2); Brigid Power was fourth in the mile (5:16.0);

The Toms are preparing for the March 7-8 MIAC Championships hosted by St. Olaf.
