Guettinger leads Women's Track at U of M

see complete results hereChelsea Guettinger won the 3,000 meters in 10:59.07 to lead the St. Thomas women as they started the 2005 indoor track and field season Saturday in the non-team scored Northwest Open at the University of Minnesota.
The Tommies enetered a partial squad in the season-opening competition that included Minnesota Gopher, unattached, Division II and NAIA athletes.
Former Tommie All-American Karolien Bastiaens, now competing for Flight Deck Athletics, won the pole vault (11-11 3-4).
Other Tommie highlights included Selina Dehn, who was third in the triple jump (34-8 1-4) and seventh in the high jump (4-11 3-4); Meghan Mayer, fourth in the 800 (2:34.21); Kelsey Larson, seventh in the 800 (2:48.02); Nkechi Alaike, ninth in the long jump (15-4) and eighth in the 60 meters (8.33); Molly Bauman, ninth in the 60 meters (8:38 finals, 8.29 prelims); Anne Iddins, fifth in the 3,000 (11:55.41); Beth Ebert, 11th in the high jump (4-9 3-4); Nicki Hanson, seventh in the 600 (1:48.51); Kristin Winchell, fifth in the mile (5:57.03); Tracy McCubbin, eighth in the mile (6:06.79); and Niki Mammen eighth in the triple jump (30-5 3-4).
The Tommies will compete Friday at home vs. UW-Eau Claire and Bethel (6 p.m.).
