Grigsby, Power shine for Women's Track

St. Thomas All-Americans Kristal Grigsby and Brigid Power combined for three NCAA provisional qualifying performances at Saturday's Manitou Classic women's track and field competition hosted by St. Olaf.

Grigsby, a two-time NCAA champion, won the long jump in 19-0, which is the best jump in Division III this outdoor season and just 1-2 inch off an automatic qualifying leap. She also won the triple jump in 37-11 1-2, which ranks seventh best thus far in D-III. Grisgby also placed third in the 100 meters (12.77).

Power took second in the 800 in 2:14.45 -- the third fastest Division III time this season.

UST also had a provisional qualifying time in the 4x400 relay in 3:57.66. The Toms won the 4x100 (49.22) and 4x400 and took second in the 4x800 (9:53.69).

Other top-nine placers for UST were Andretta Colley, second in the long jump (17-7 1-2); Erika Wetzel, second in the javelin (120-8); Molly Bauman, third in the 100 hurdles (15.53) and ninth in the 400 hurdles (68.09); Chelsea Guettinger, fifth in the 10,000 (39:33.68); Christina Chapman, fifth in the 200 (26.48); Anne Iddins, eighth in the steeplechase (12:17.73); Selina Dehn, ninth in the high jump (5-1); Megan Seibel, ninth in the long jump (15-9 3-4); and Shara Guidry, fifth in the discus (121-0).
