Women's Track has busy weekend at Drake, Mac

St. Thomas had women's track and field athletes at both the Drake Relays in Des Moines and nearby at the Macalester Invitational.
At Drake, the Toms' 4x100 relay dropped the baton and didn't finish its prelim heat. In the 4x400 prelims, the Toms had a season-best and NCAA provisional qualifying time of 3:56.39 (Alicia Wolff, Christina Chapman, Kristal Grisgby and Molly Bauman) but missed the finals. In the sprint medley, UST took seventh out of 30 teams in 4:04.91 with Chapman, Grigsby, Bauman and Brigid Power.
The Tommies had several top-10 placers at the Macalester Invitational. Natalie Stork won the 10,000 meters (40:46.83); Jenny Olin took second in the 5,000 (18:53.36); Shara Guidry was third in the discus (116-8) and ninth in the shot put (34-5 1-2); Carol Comp was fifth in the discus (113-10); Selina Dehn was third in the long jump (16-4 1-2) and fourth in the triple jump (35-7 1-2); Anne Iddins was fifth in the steeplechase (12:16.93); Michelle Binn was fourth in the hammer (128-6); Nkechi Alaike was sixth in the 100 (13.51) and seventh in the 200 (27.76); Ronni Hamilton (5:03.08) and Kalsey Larson (5:03.97) went 6-8 in the 1,500; Tracy McCubbin (11:27.52), Trisha Coffee (11:52.32) and Steph Heniff (12:32.04) went 4-5-6 in the 3,000; Nikki Mammen was sixth in the long jump (15-6 1-2)
St. Thomas hosts a Wednesday Tommie Twilight meet.
