St. Thomas junior All-American Kristal Grigsby improved her NCAA provisional qualifying marks in the long jump and high jump and also helped the Tommies to a provisional time in the 4x100 relay. Grigsby, the 2004 national champion, jumped 19-1 1-2 in the long jump -- the best leap in Division III thus far in the 2005 outdoor season. She also clared 5-5 3-4 in the high jump, a half inch better than her previous outdoor best this season. She helped UST run 48.68 in the 4x100 for first place, and also ran 26.31 in the 200 meters for sixth place.
Senior All-American Andretta Colley also hit provisional qualifying marks with second-place finishes in the long jump (18-9 1-4) and the triple jump (37-10 3-4), and also took fifth in the 100 meters (12.85). Colley's long jump is third best in the nation, behind Grigsby and one other competitor.
UST freshman Selina Dehn also hit the NCAA provisional mark in the triple jump taking third in 37-1 1-2. Dehn also placed seventh in the long jump (16-10 1-2).
Senior All-American Brigid Power won the 1,500 meters (4:38.17). Jenny Olin (18:43) and Chelsea Guettinger (18:58) went 1-2 in the 5,000 meters. Shara Guidry won the discus (123-6) and was fifth in the shot put (38-2). Erika Wetzel won the javelin (124-4).
Molly Bauman took second in the 400 hurdles in 64.70, just .40 of a second off the provisional standard, and also was fourth in the 100 meters (12.57) and fifth in the long jump. Chirstina Chapman was fourth in the 200 (26.21). Nikki Mammen was fourth in the long jump (17-2 1-4) and fifth in the 100 hurdles (16.10). Alicia Wolff took foruth in the 400 meters (60.93). Jada Lewis was fourth in the high jump (5-1 3-4), 10th in the triple jump (32-4 3-4) and 12th in the long jump (15-9 1-2). Megan Seibel was eighth in the long jump (16-10) and 11th in the triple jump (31-11 1-4). Anne Iddins was seventh in the 3,000 steeplechase(12:10.92). Carol Comp was seventh in the shot put (37-1 3-4) and eighth in the hammer (121-0). Michelle Binn (135-6) and Shannon Kane (132-4) took 4-5 in the hammer (135-6). Liz Kapsner took sixth in the discus (107-4). Hannah Meium was fourth in the javelin (94-0). Tracy McCubbin was seventh in the 5,000 (20:07.55). Kalsey Larson (4:56.28) and Ronni Hamilton (4:57.97) took 6-8 in the 1,500. Nicki Hanson (2:24.67) and Mary McKee (2:24.92) took 11-12 in the 800.
St. Thomas hosts a co-ed track and field meet Saturday with several Division I and II teams.
