Women's Track opens season with five firsts

Senior All-American Kristal Grigsby won the long jump (17-5) and high jump (5-3 1-4) Friday night to lead the St. Thomas women to third place in the five-team UW-Eau Claire indoor track & field competition. It was the first competition of the season for the Tommies.

Molly Bauman was the 55 meters (7.51), Christina Chapman won the 200 meters (26.87) and Selina Dehn won the triple jump (36-0).

Megan Mayer was second in the mile (5:23.10) and UST also took second in the 4x400 relay.

Anne Iddins placed third in the 3,000 meters (11:32.29) and Nicki Hanson was third in the 800 (2:31.86).

UW-Eau Claire placed first in the team standings (205.50) followed by Winona State (129), St. Thomas (115.5), St. Mary's (54) and Bethel (45).

The Toms will compete next Thursday in a triangular meet at St. Olaf.
