Kristal Grigsby hits NCAA automatic mark in long jump

St. Thomas senior All-American Kristal Grigsby hit an automatic qualifying mark in the long jump at Friday night's Carleton Invite. The non-team scored meet included athletes from six teams.

Grigsby leaped 18-8 1-2 -- six inches off her own school record and MIAC all-time best -- to qualify for the March 10-11 NCAA Championships. Grigsby also won the triple jump (35-10), and was second in the 200 (26.42) and third in the high jump (5-0 1-2).

The Toms won the 4x400 relay (4:03.52), and Jada Lewis won the high jump (5-0 1-4),

Seconds were scored by Selina Dehn in the triple jump (35-1 1-4) and high jump (5-0 1-4); Molly Bauman in the 55 hurdles (9.20); Kalsey Larson in the mile (5:17.92); and Jane Dolan in the 3,000 (11:27.62). Thirds were scored by Christina Chapman in the 55 meters (7.79); Nicki Hanson in the 600 (1:46.33); Christine Frandsen in the 800 (2:31.97); Ronni Hamilton in the mile (5:21.21); and Katie Theisen in the triple jump (35-1). Fourths were scored by Theisen in the long jump (16-3 1-4); Shionna Evans in the 55 meters (7.81); and Brittany Dusich in the 3,000 (11:34.19).
