Women's Track first of four teams at Carleton

Senior Molly Bauman hit an NCAA provisional time in the 400 hurdles to lead St. Thomas to the team title at Thursday's Carleton Invitational. The Toms had 10 firsts and eight seconds and outscored St. Olaf, Carleton and St. Catherine.

Bauman clocked 62.70 for the second-best time in Division III thus far in 2006. She also won the 100 hurdles in 15.37 and placed fourth in the long jump 16-3.

The Toms also won the 4x100 relay (48.93) -- just .05 seconds off the provisional qualifying time.

Katie Theisen swept the long jump (17-6) and triple jump (36-2)) and was second in the 400 hurdles (64.41).

Kristal Grigsby won the 100 meters (12.50, just off the 12.34 provisional standard) and placed second in the 200 meters (26.20) and the triple jump (36-0 1-4).

Christina Chapman swept the 200 meters (25.74, just off the provisional cutoff of 25.36) and won the 400 meters (58.13).

Nikki Mammen won the high jump (4-11) and took second in the long jump (16-9 3-4).

Erika Wetzel won the javelin (118-1).

Other seconds for UST came from Shannon Kane in the hammer (136-4); Shara Guidry in the discus (129-2); Beth Ebert in the high jump (4-11); and Jane Dolan in the 5,000 meters (19:47.98).

Thirds for UST were scored by Selina Dehn in the triple jump (35-7 1-4); and Carol Comp in the shot put (39-3) and hammer (133-11). Kate Staat took third in the 100 meters (12.99) and fourth in the 200 meters (26.75).

Fifths were scored by Shionna Evans in the 800 (2:24.05); Krista Horejsi in the 400 hurdles (74.79); Dehn in the long jump (16-2 1-2); Kane in the discus (116-5); Michelle Binn in the hammer (128-2); and Alysa Salomone in the high jump (4-9).
