St. Thomas Open Track & Field -- Women's Results

The St. Thomas women's track and field team hit an NCAA automatic qualifying time in the 4x400 relay Saturday at the St. Thomas Open at O'Shaughnessy Stadium. Minnesota-Duluth and Minnesota State Mankato also competed in the non-team scored meet.

UST's quartet of Molly Bauman, Christina Chapman, Shionna Evans and Katie Theisen clocked 3:49.40, the third fastest time in Division III this season.

The Tommies also had five strong provisional qualifying times or marks. Their 4x100 relay unit of Bauman, Chapman, Kristal Grigsby and Kate Staat won in 48.11, lowering its provisional to ninth in D-III. Bauman won the 100 hurdles in 14.87, the 20th best time in D-III. Theisen hit provisionals with first-place finishes in the long jump (18-3) and the triple jump (37-1), both career bests. Erika Wetzel had a provisional mark in the javelin (133-8) for second place.

Nicki Hanson (5:04.06) and Jane Dolan (5:09.10) went 1-2 in the 1,500. Selina Dehn placed second in the triple jump (36-10 1-4), third in the high jump (5-4 1-4) and third in the 200 (27.52).

Grigsby (12.67) and Evans (12.90) took 3-5 in the 100; Jessica Taylor placed fifth in the 200 (28.59) and 400 (64.93); Kalsey Larson took fifth in the 400 (2;24.42); Ashley Misgen (17.71) and Krista Horejsi (20.54) took 3-5 in the 100 hurdles; Brittany Dusich (12:26.26) and Christine Frandsen (12:40.21) took 4-5 in the steeplechase; Megan Seibel (16-11 1-2) and Bauman (16-5 3-4) placed 4-6 in the long jump; Grigsby (36-1 1-4) and Jada Lewis (35-4 1-2) placed 4-5 in the triple jump; Shara Guidry placed third in the shot put (38-9 1-2); and Carol Comp placed fifth in the hammer (136-2).

St. Thomas hosts the MIAC Championships May 12-13 at O'Shaughnessy Stadium.
