Molly Bauman broke a school record in the 400-meter hurdles

St. Thomas senior Molly Bauman placed third in the 400-meter hurdles Saturday at the NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships in Lisle, Ill.

Bauman ran 61.22, just off her career-best and school-record 60.83 clocked in Thursday's prelims. Her six points, and 10 points from Thursday's long jump champ Kristal Grisgby, let the Tommies share 15th place with 16 points.

UST ran in the nine-team finals in the 4x100 relay Christina Chapman, Shionna Evans, Kate Staat, Molly Bauman) but took ninth in 48.21 and failed to score. It was the 25th consecutive year St. Thomas advanced a men's or women's relay to the finals at outdoor nationals.

Selina Dehn competed in the triple jump but leaped 37-3 3-4 and missed the nine-person finals.

Carthage senior Shea'na Grigsby swept the 400 and 100 hurdles and closed her career with eight NCAA titles. Her twin sister Kristal won three NCAA crowns in her career.
