Fred "Lefty" Miller graduated from the University of St. Thomas with a BA in 1908. At St. Thomas, Miller had a 28-3 pitching record on his career, with 13 wins against Division I schools. He recorded 195 strikeouts and just 31 walks over 131 innings with the Tommies. He had 16 strikeouts in wins over Iowa and Marquette, and had 11 complete games on his career. Miller played pro baseball for four seasons while in medical school, reaching Class AAA. He was eventually drafted by the Philadelphia Athletics.
