Larry "Doc" Russ

Larry "Doc" Russ graduated from the University of St. Thomas with a BA in 1969. He was the St. Thomas men's track and field coach from 1969-1979 and the cross country coach from 1970-1992. He led the Tommie cross country team to nine top-five finishes, accented by the 1984 and 1986 NCAA crowns. He coached 13 conference champion cross country teams, including a record nine in a row. Russ coached four individual national champions in cross country and in track and field. His athletes won All-American honors 23 times in cross country, and 10 times in track and field.
