A Job Well Done

St. Thomas claimed 14 of a possible 22 conference regular-season titles in 2017-18. Six Tommies won MIAC Coach of the Year honors after guiding their squads to conference championships:

  • Football's Glenn Caruso (8-0 MIAC record)
  • Men's Soccer's Jon Lowery (12-0 against MIAC foes)
  • Volleyball's Thanh Pham (11-2 against MIAC foes)
  • Indoor T&F's Joe Sweeney (swept MIAC indoor-outdoor titles for 14th year in row)
  • Softball's John Tschida (23-2 against MIAC foes)
  • Men's Golf's Scott Proshek

St. Thomas has received a conference Coach of the Year honor in 16 different sports at some point over the last four seasons.

Proshek also was named Region Coach of the Year as he led his team to an 11th place NCAA finish.

Lowery -- a National Coach of the Year in 2016 -- and his aides were repeat winners of the Men's Soccer North Region Coaching Staff of the Year. They led UST's 20-2 finish and a trip to the NCAA playoff quarterfinals.

Pham was named AVCA Central Region Coach of the Year in volleyball.

A multiple National Coach of the Year, Caruso guided a 10-game winning streak and a trip to the NCAA playoff quarterfinals last fall.
