July Rewind: Twin siblings aid two UST teams

Editor's Note: Starting July 7 and running through the rest of the month, will highlight 25 memorable events from St. Thomas' successful 2017-18 athletics year

Seeing Double

Twin siblings made an on-field impact in 2017-18 for both UST Men's Soccer and Women's Tennis.

In three different soccer contests, twin brothers Justin and Tyler Oliver both scored goals for the Tommies. In a victory at St. John's, the twins each assisted on the other brother's goal.

Tyler Oliver transferred to St. Thomas in 2016 after starting his career at Eastern Illinois. In 45 games with the Tommies he had 12 goals and 12 assists. Justin Oliver – a former Gatorade state player of the Year at Tartan High -- transferred to UST in 2017 after starting his career at Eastern Illinois. Justin Oliver collected a team-best 16 goals and four assists in 23 games and made second-team All-America.

Sophomore sisters Taylor McLeod and Paige McLeod played a huge role for Women's Tennis in their third-place MIAC finish in 2019.

Taylor McLeod became the first Tommie tennis player to go undefeated in singles in Division III matches (minimum of 15). Taylor finished 17-1, with her only loss being to an NCAA Division II athlete.

In their two-year careers, Taylor McLeod is 31-5 in singles and 28-8 in doubles, while Paige McLeod is 14-5 in singles and 28-8 in doubles.

There are two sets of twin brothers on Tommie Football's roster -- rising sophomores Sam and Shea Gerrety of Blaine, and Drake and Henry Weisman of Chanhassen.
