St. Thomas coach Glenn Caruso has finalized his 2018 football schedule.
Coming off an 11-2 season and another trip to the national playoff quarterfinals, the Tommies will play perennial conference powers St. John's, Concordia-Moorhead, Bethel and Gustavus on the road, and will face its other six opponents in O'Shaughnessy Stadium.
While the conference playing order has switched from the last two-year cycle, the same four teams will be on either UST's home or away schedule again in both 2018 and 2019.
The Toms open Sept. 1 at home against NAIA's Trinity International of Deerfield, Ill. After a bye week, the Toms start MIAC play at home Sept. 15 against Hamline. The home game with the Pipers will be the 1,000th game in program history.
They will play UW-Eau Claire at home on Sept. 22, then play their first road game Sept. 29 at Concordia-Moorhead.
St. Thomas will attempt to win the MIAC championship for the fourth year in a row and seventh time this decade. The Toms come into next fall with a 28-game victory streak against MIAC opponents, which is tied for the conference record.
Caruso has built a 110-17 record in his 10 seasons at St. Thomas (19-8 postseason). St. Thomas is expected to return 15 of 22 offensive and defensive starters, led by All-America center Matt Beck.
For the eighth consecutive season, all 10 Tommie regular-season games will air live on WCCO Radio 830 AM.
