Efficient Josh Parks gets MIAC weekly honor

Tommie senior Josh Parks on Monday was named MIAC Football Offensive Player of the Week. It was the second such award on Parks' career.

Parks averaged 15.2 yards a carry with touchdown runs of 46, 8 and 61 yards in Saturday's 68-0 victory over Carleton. Parks leads all rushers from all 660 NCAA teams with a 10.45 average per carry this season. 

Parks followed up his 256-yard rushing game at St. John's on Oct. 13 by gaining 198 yards on 13 attempts against the Knights. He has recorded 15 touchdowns and 1,045 rushing yards on his season, including 648 yards and eight touchdowns in three October games despite playing just eight of the 12 quarters.

Parks has 11 career runs of 45 or more yards so far in his three seasons at St. Thomas.

In Division III season stats, Parks ranks first in yards per attempt, fourth in touchdowns, and eighth in rushing yards per game (149.3).

St. Thomas is home Oct. 27 to face St. Olaf.
