Pete Sienko's 70 leads Men's Golf win in Calif.

Tommie Men's Golf opened the 2018 portion of its season with a match-play victory Friday in Palm Springs, Calif.

The Tommies topped College of the Desert community college 6-3 to wrap up its spring-break trip.

Senior Pete Sienko shot the day's best score (70) to lead St. Thomas, which is ranked No. 1 in the GolfStat computer poll and No. 4 in the Bushnell coaches' poll for Division III.

Senior Shane Sienko (73), freshman Peder Larson (74), sophomore Emmet Herb (75) and senior Owen Nowicki (75) also broke 76 for Coach Scott Proshek's team.

The Tommies are scheduled to compete April 15-16 at the Gustavus Bobby Krieg Invite.
