Tommie sophomore Peder Larson of Wayzata High on Tuesday was named MIAC Men's Golf Athlete of the Week.
Larson shot one-under-par 71 on Sunday to close out an impressive weekend and lead No. 10-ranked St. Thomas to the team victory at the two-day, 36-hole Augsburg Invite at the Majestic Oaks course in Ham Lake.
The Tommies (287-298/585) posted a four-stroke win over Bethel and beat teams from 11 other universities in their first competition of 2018-19.
Larson's 140 total (69-71) finished second among 103 players and first among 65 golfers from eight MIAC teams. Nebraska Wesleyan's Alex Kubik (72-67/139) edged Larson by one stroke for medalist honors.
Larson's best score in 10 rounds in 2017-18 as a freshman was a pair of 74s.
