Men's Golf drops close match; Herb gets MIAC weekly honor

No. 24-ranked Tommie Men's Golf played No. 17-ranked St. John's on Sunday on a par-71 course in Monticello. The Johnnies won the stroke play, 292-299, and also won the match play, 6-4.

St. Thomas' Emmet Herb (70) had the day's low score out of 20 players at 70. Sawyer Bailey (71) tied for the second-best score, and Peder Larson (73) tied for the fourth best.

Herb on Tuesday was named MIAC Athlete of the Week. His 72.3 stroke average for 17 rounds in 2018-19 is second best in the conference.

The Tommies will compete next Saturday and Sunday at Gustavus' Bobby Krieg Invite.
