Brett Gravelle gets MIAC weekly honor on ice

Sophomore forward Brett Gravelle on Monday was named MIAC Men's Hockey Athlete of the Week.

A native of Forest Lake, Minn., Gravelle had a pair of two-goal games to lead the Tommies' 4-0, 6-4 sweep of St. Olaf.

The Toms have won their last nine games when Gravelle has scored a goal. He has eight goals and two assists in UST's current seven-game unbeaten streak.

Gravelle has 48 points in 47 college games, including 18 goals and 19 assists in his last 30 games. He has scored a team-best 13 goals this season.

The Toms play archrival St. John's twice next weekend.

 

On a Roll

The 14-6-1 Tommies had five other notable achievements this weekend:

  • UST secured the program's 36th consecutive winning season;
  • UST moved alone into the conference lead with four games to play, as it seeks the program's sixth conference crown in the last seven seasons;
  • UST secured an MIAC playoff spot for the 33rd time in the 33-year history of the format;
  • UST moved into the national top-15 polls on Monday in both USCHO (No. 13) and D3Hockey.com (No. 15);
  • UST's seven-game win streak is the program's longest since an eight-game streak in 2014-15;
  • After scoring just 25 goals in its first 11 games, the Tommies have scored 41 in their last 10 contests.
