Title: Assistant Coach
Minnesota native Nick Bydal brings years of juniors hockey playing and coaching experience to St. Thomas where he joins the men's hockey staff in 2017-18. 
From 2014-2016, Bydal served as an Assistant Coach with the Minnesota Magicians, who are part of the North American Hockey League (NAHL). For the 2016-2017 season he became the first Head Coach /General Manager of College Station Spirit in the NA3HL while also continuing with the Magicians as Assistant General Manager. 
Prior to his time with the Magicians, Bydal coached high school hockey in the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL). In 2012, he became an assistant coach at his alma mater, East Grand Forks High, assisting with both the varsity and junior-varsity squads. 
In 2013, he served as an assistant coach for the Crookston High varsity hockey team while also serving as an evaluator at the Minnesota Reebok High Performance Select 15 Festival.
Following a high school career in which he captained East Grand Forks High to two Minnesota State Tournament appearances (2001 & 2002), Bydal spent three seasons with the Bismarck Bobcats of the North American Hockey League (NAHL). He then continued his career as a student-athlete at UW-Stevens Point of the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA). 
After graduating from Stevens Point, he spent time in the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) playing parts of two seasons with the Fayetteville FireAntz, Louisiana Ice Gators, and Augusta RiverHawks.
