Barry's blast helps Men's Soccer extend win streak

Tommie Men's Soccer ran its win streak to eight with Sunday's 3-1 home victory over St. Scholastica.

Coach Jon Lowery's squad (9-3-3) never trailed. The Purple took a 1-0 lead as Halvor Houg scored in the seventh minute, assisted by Andrew Shirley.

After the Saints tied the game 1-1 in the 66th minute, Jack Barry answered just 77 seconds later with the go-ahead goal on a high blast to the top corner. Jacob Makela scored an insurance goal from the left side in the 78th minute.

Keeper Troy Louwagie was in net the first 81 minutes. The Purple had an 11-3 edge in corner kicks and a 9-1 advantage in shots on goal.

The Purple's last 10 goals have come from eight different players.

St. Thomas leads the conference race by one-half game and plays Friday night at Macalester.
