Connor O'Neill broke his own school record in the pole vault as he cleared 16-7 1-2 for first place Wednesday at the Bear Cat Twilight meet co-hosted by St. Thomas and Concordia-St. Paul on the Bears' campus.

That mark ranks fifth best in Division III this spring. O'Neill's previous UST record was 16-4 1-2 at nationals in May 2014, and six days earlier he cleared 16-1 3-4.

UST's Evan Keil (14-9 1-2) and Michael Bury (14-6) also had season bests.

Conor White improved his season best as he won the long jump in 23-8 3-4, which still ranks No. 18 in Division III. White also had a season best 6-2 for second in the high jump. Evan Cross took second in the long jump in 23-3 1-4.

Micah Hausman improved his season best in the shot put as he threw 51-11 1-4, which ranks 21st in Division III. He also matched his season best in the hammer (172-8).

Michael Witschen took third in the long jump (22-11), third in the 100 dash (11.08), and third in the 200 (22.47). His 100 time is fourth best in the MIAC.

Others with season bests include Ryan Neville in the 200 (22.27, fifth best in MIAC); Jacob Gredvig in the 400 hurdles (57.54); and Colin Duellman in the 100 (11.11 prelims).

The Toms will have some athletes competing Thursday and Friday at the MIAC Multievent at Carleton, and some Saturday at the Meet of Saints at St. Olaf.
