Men's track and field second at Wartburg Select
St. Thomas men's track and field competed in the Wartburg Select Invitational on Saturday afternoon in Waverly, Iowa.  The Tommies finished second of seven teams behind the host Knights. 
 
Junior Eric Holst won the weight throw in 61-5 3-4, a career best and the third best throw this season in Division III.
 
Nick Spann won the long jump in 23-4 -- the No. 9-ranked performance in D-III -- while teammate Conor White jumped 22-11 3-4 to rank No. 17. White also had a season-best 7.05 in the 60 dash.
 
Preston Huddleston scored 4,746 in the heptathlon and ranks 12th nationally. Chris Mueller placed second in the 400 (49.89). Luke Van Zuilen took second in the triple jump (43-3 1-4).
 
Wartburg (192) edged St. Thomas (170), UW-Platteville (127.5) and four other teams.
