Eighth consecutive team title for Men's T&F at MIACs

St. Thomas Men's Track and Field scored in 21 of 22 events and claimed the program's eighth consecutive team crown at the MIAC Outdoor Championships. The two-day meet concluded Saturday evening at St. Thomas' O'Shaughnessy Stadium.

Led by three Saturday victories, St. Thomas finished the final day with with 212.5 points, 81.5 points ahead of runner-up St. John's.

Coach Steve Mathre's team received points from 32 different athletes, including 11 freshmen. St. Thomas had 17 season-best times and marks over the two-day competition.

Conor White's 23-6 in the long jump to win Friday moved him to No. 17 nationally in that event, while Adam Rikkers' 23-2 3-4 moved him to No. 29.

St. Thomas will have some athletes compete Thursday at the UW-La Crosse Last Chance Meet. The NCAA outdoor meet is set for May 23-25.


Saturday Highlights

Carl Kozlowski (800), Aidan Ritzenthaler (pole vault) and Nick Spann (triple jump) were Saturday winners.

Ritzenthaler led a 28-point Tommie output in the pole vault. He joined Michael Bury to clear 14-7 1-4 to place 1-2. Cale Bordson (13-9 1-4), Adam Rikkers (13-3 1-2), Tyler Cullen (13-3 1-2) and Wyatt Amdahl (13-3 1-12) placed 5-6-7-8.

Kozlowski clocked 1:55.30 to win the 800.

Spann won the triple jump (46-3 1-2) and ran on the Toms' third-place 4x100 relay in 42.33 with Kaleb Keener, Conor White and Eric Douville. In both the 100 and 200 dashes, Douville placed third with times of 10.69 and 22.04.

Parker Rosenau took second in the steeplechase (9:21.81).

In the shot put, David Danhauer (53-7 1-2), Gage O'Brien (52-4 1-2) and Parker Feuerborn (51-0 1-4) placed 2-4-5.

Karl Wachter (4:08.16) and Biel Wiel (4:10.35) placed 3-8 in the 1,500.

George McGivern (15:08.77) and Mac Karrick (15:11.07) placed 5-7 in the 5,000.

In the 110 hurdles, Austin Coates (15.07), Erik Anderson (15:26) and Jonah Schoenfelder (15:26) placed 4-6-7. In the 400 hurdles, Schoenfelder took seventh (55.82).

Matt Escher took fifth in the javelin (170-8). 

The 4x400 relay placed sixth in 3:23.24 with Brian Carl, Mason Thedens, Joshua Prater and Kozlowski.

Prater took sixth in the triple jump (42-6 3-4).

White placed eighth in the 100 (11.26).
