Tommie senior David Danhauer placed eighth in the shot put to receive All-America honors Friday at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Geneva, Ohio.

Danhauer threw 53-9 for eighth place and scored one team point. Junior Gage O'Brien threw 52-2 3-4 and placed 11th.

On Saturday, senior Eric Holst is seeded third in the hammer throw, an event he won at outdoor nationals last season.

It's a rare two-sport All-America season accomplishment for Danhauer. The Barrington, Ill., was named third-team All-America in football last fall as a defensive lineman for the 8-2 Tommies, who were ranked in the top 15 nationally all season.

Women's Track and Field

Senior Grace Bordson just missed the awards stand as she placed ninth in the high jump Friday at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Geneva, Ohio.

A two-time All-America in her career, Bordson cleared 5-5 3-4 in her final college competition.

One Tommie woman competes Saturday: senior Mallory Adamson in the 400 hurdles. She qualified fifth in the prelims for the nine-runner finals race.
