Sophomore Karl Wachter placed first out of 31 runners in the Tommies' 19-42 dual-meet win over Hamline Saturday on the St. Catherine campus.

Wachter clocked 12:32 on the 4,000-meter (2.48 miles) course. St. Thomas had 14 of the first 19 finishers.

Freshman Carl Kozlowski took third in 12:44; Parker Rosenau and Seth Glidewell finished 4-5 in 12:50; and Scott Helstad was sixth in 12:53 for the last scoring total.

Six other Tommies placed in the top 16: Andrew Fritz took seventh in 12:55; Adam Berkowitz was 10th in 13:02; Collin Kiley was 11th in 13:03; George McGivern was 13th in 13:09; Spencer Urick was 14th in 13:20; and Bailey LaChance was 16th in 13:25.

Regionally-ranked St. Thomas competes next Saturday at the UW-La Crosse Invite -- its last competition before the Oct. 28 MIAC Championships at St. Olaf.
