Hayley Dunning recorded a complete-game pitching victory as No. 14-ranked St. Thomas Softball scored a 2-1 win over St. Olaf in Sunday night play in the Dundas Dome.
St. Thomas (15-5 overall, 5-1 MIAC) has won 14 of its last 16 games, including six by one run or in extra innings. Dunning has won 10 of her last 11 starts. She stranded two runners in the fifth inning with oonly one out and stranded te tying run at second in the final inning with only one out.
In game one, UST took a 1-0 lead in the first inning as Elise Barnes singled and later scored on Dana Connelly's RBI ground out. The Toms made it 2-0 in the second as Kristin McGonigal scored on a wild pitch.
Melissa Barry, who scored seven runs ad had nine hits in six MIAC games last week, had a 10-game hitting streak halted in game one.
