No. 4-ranked Tommie Softball scored a pair of 10-2 victories in six innings over the host Bethel Royals in Sunday's MIAC openers in Arden Hills.
Chase Shortly had four hits and six RBI in the sweep for St. Thomas (14-2 overall, 2-0 MIAC). Melissa Barry also had four hits.
Bethel (15-3, 0-2) was held to eight hits and three earned runs on the day.
Kierstin Anderson-Glass struck out eight and allowed one earned run in a six-inning, complete-game win.
Freshman Megan Baniecke allowed two runs and five hits for a complete-game win over six innings in game two.
St. Thomas opens its home season Wednesday with two MIAC games against St. Ben's.
