Softball battles back for split at Hamline

Izzy Marketon went 3-for-3 with two doubles and pitched the final 4 1-3 innings for the mound victory as No. 6-ranked Tommie Softball scored an 8-5 win over Hamline for a split of Friday's games on the Pipers' Field. Hamline won game one, 5-1.

The Tommies (16-4 overall, 4-2 MIAC) had 16 hits in game two after struggling to score in the opener. That included two-out RBI hits in the first, second, fourth and sixth innings. Melissa Barry, Elisa Barnes and Dana Connelly each had two hits, and in all 10 Tommies had at least one hit.

Marketon allowed three runs and six hits with no walks and three strikeouts.

St. Thomas continues a busy stretch Saturday with two homes games against St. Olaf.
