Softball sweeps Gusties on road, reaches 20 wins

Junior Kiersten Anderson-Glass threw a one-hit shutout for her second shutout victory in as many days to lead No. 6-ranked St. Thomas Softball to a 8-0 win over Gusatvus in the opener of Sunday's twinbill in St. Peter.

The Toms, who slapped 25 hits on the day, won game two 10-2 in five innings to complete the sweep.Anderson-Glass went 4-for-4 on the day with two doubles.

Senior Melissa Barry went 3-for-3 in game two and now has 198 career hits.

St. Thomas (20-4 overall, 8-2 MIAC) reached 20 season wins and sits just behind St. Catherine (5-1) atop the conference race.

 

Anderson-Glass walked none and struck out four. She also had two hits to match the output of teammates Elise Barnes and Rachel Suter.

Barnes drove in three runs with triple in game two. Barry and Jenna Beeso each went 3-for-3. Megan Baniecke and Izzy Marketon combined to limit Gustavus to two runs, one walk and four hits over five innings. 

St. Thomas plays two Tuesday at UW-La Crosse, and is home Thursday for two against Augsburg.
