Softball does it again with efficient 1-0 win

Junior Kierstin Anderson-Glass ran her scoreless streak on the mound to 42 innings and No. 3-ranked Tommie Softball used poise and patience in Friday's 1-0 victory over No. 25-ranked UW-Eau Claire in NCAA tourney action at South Field.

St. Thomas (40-5) has won 25 of its last 26 games, including five shutouts in five postseason games.

The Toms will play in Saturday's championship final at noon against Eau Claire. the Blugolds held off Wartburg 4-3 Friday evening in an elimination game. If the Purple loses the noon game it will play a 2:30 p.m. rematch for the region crown and the ticket into the May 17-18 Super Regional tournament.

The Tommies took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning on a single by Melissa Barry and one-out singles by Chase Shortly and Dana Connelly.

Anderson-Glass (23-3) struck out three and didn't walk a batter. She stranded three runners on the day and got a game-ending strikeout/throw out at second on a steal attempt.

Shortly had two hits to lead a seven-hit attack, but the Toms left six runners on base.
