Junior center Hannah Spaulding recorded 22 points, six rebounds and six assists, but No. 3-ranked St. Thomas lost 80-68 to Bowdoin (Maine) Saturday in non-conference women's basketball play in Skidmore, N.Y.
The Polar Bears (2-0) are 91-23 over the last five seasons. They lost by three and five points last season to Tufts, the NCAA runner-up and a team that ended UST's season in the national semifinals, 60-57.
Bowdoin shot 54 percent from the floor and sank 10-of-20 from 3-point range, with five differet players sinking two each. The Bears outscored the Toms 30-21 behind the arc and led by as many as 19. That's the most points scored on St. Thomas in the last 50 games.
Spaulding and Brazil made the six-player all-tournament team.
The Tommies open their home season Nov. 26 against George Fox (Ore.).
