Minnesota's bitter cold and extreme wind chills forecast for Wednesday Jan. 30 have caused the postponement of all 11 basketball games scheduled in the MIAC.
Ten of those 11 contests -- including games involving both Tommie men's and women's teams -- will be moved back one day later, Thursday Jan. 31, at the usual 7 p.m. tipoff time.
The No. 3-ranked and first-place Tommie women (18-1) will play at Macalester, while the No. 5-ranked and first-place St. Thomas men (17-1) are home in Schoenecker Arena to play Macalester.
Both teams stay in St. Paul for Saturday afternoon's road doubleheader at Hamline.
The St. Thomas men and women have already secured an MIAC playoff spots with three weeks to go.
For the first time since January 2015, both Tommie men's and women's teams are simultaneously ranked in the top five nationally by D3hoops.com. In the last month, the St. Thmas men went from being unranked to No. 16 to No. 7 and now to No. 5.
At all three NCAA levels, only St. Thomas and D-II's Indiana (Pa.) are ranked in the top five this week in basketball in both genders.
