Brian Silk is starting his 6th season as assistant coach for the Tommies in the 2018-19 season. Since joining the Tommies, they have posted a record of 137-14. He works with the post players and has helped with the development of All-Americans Maggie Weier, Kaitlin Langer, and Hannah Spaulding.
Silk has an extensive basketball background as both a player and coach. A graduate of Simley High School, he led his basketball team to the state title in his senior season. He continued his playing career as a four-year letter winner and team captain at NDSU.
Coach Silk has been a head and assistant coach for both boys and girls high school basketball. Most recently Coach Silk was an assistant with the highly successful Eastview High boys' program in Apple Valley, Minn.
"Brian is a true student of the game with a passion for working with student-athletes," said UST coach Ruth Sinn. "Coach Silk brings a wide range of knowledge to UST and is a great teacher of the game."
Coach Silk has a masters degree in education and currently works with elementary students in the Farmington School District. He resides in Rosemount, with his family: wife Leah, and their kids Isla, Elias, and Izzy.
