Women's Golf takes sixth at MIAC meet

The Tommie women finished in sixth place at the 2011 MIAC Golf Championships in Coon Rapids. The 54-hole tournament finished Monday on the Bunker Hills layout.

St. Olaf (939) took home its first MIAC championship as it topped defneding champion Gustavus (961) by 22 strokes. St. Ben's (984), Carleton and Concordia (1002), and St. Thomas (1019) placed third through sixth in the 11-team event.

For the Tommies, Emma Wilson placed 18th at 251 (84-86-81); Katie Kruchten tied for 21st at 256 (89-80-87); Kayla Westling placed 23rd at 257 (84-91-82); Shannon Richter tied for 28th at 262 (83-87-92); and Cassy Norton placed 32nd at 265 (83-90-92).

Sunday Story

The Tommie women are in sixth place after Sunday's second round of the 2011 MIAC Golf Championships in Coon Rapids.

The 54-hole tournament finishes Monday on the Bunker Hills layout.

St. Olaf (629), Gustavus (642), St. Ben's (655), Carleton (666), Concordia (671) and St. Thomas (677) hold the first six team spots in the 11-team event.

For the Tommies, who shot 243 on Sunday, Katie Kruchten is tied for 19th at 89-80/169; Shannon Richter and Emma Wilson are tied for 21st at 170; Cassy Norton is tied for 23rd at 173; and Kayla Westling is tied for 29th at 175.

Saturday Story

The Tommie women had perhaps their best performance thus far in 2011 and sit tied for fourth place after Saturday's opening round of the 2011 MIAC Golf Championships in Coon Rapids.

The 54-hole tournament continues Sunday and finishes Monday on the Bunker Hills layout.

St. Olaf (309), Gustavus (321), St. Ben's (332), St. Thomas and Carleton (each 334) and Concordia (340) hold the first six team spots in the 11-team event.

For the Tommies, Cassy Norton and Shannon Richter each shot 83, and Kayla Westling and Emma Wilson posted scores of 84; and Katie Kruchten shot 89.
