Women's Golf ties for third of 13 at Blazer tourney

Tommie Women's Golf posted rounds of 328 and 327 for a 655 total and shared third place of out 13 teams at the season-opening CSB Blazer tournament. The 36-hole event over two days concluded Sunday in Sartell, Minn.

Carleton (318-318/636) scored a 16-shot victory over second place St. Catherine (329-323/652). The Tommies and Gustavus shared third at 655, and Bethel (661), led by medalist Christina Piwnica (78-70/148), rounded out the top five.

Emily Thul shot 76 on Sunday and finished at 157 for the weekend to tie for fifth place. Marja Sorensen (85-81/166) and Kate Drimel (81-85/166) tied for 24th. Morgan McCorkle (81-87/168) placed 27th. Kate Balison and freshmen Hilary Whalen and Erin Kehoe each shot 85s on Sunday.

The Tommies travel to Waverly, Iowa, next Saturday and Sunday for the 36-hole Wartburg Invite.
