The St. Thomas women took second out of 12 teams at the two-day, 36-hole Wartburg Spring Invite. Emily Thul's second consecutive even-par 72 on Sunday let her take medalist honors by two shots in a field of 73 players.

Thul has recorded three 72s in her three competitive rounds thus far in 2018.

St. Thomas' 324-318/642 team score was seven behind first-place Carleton, and three ahead of both Central and St. Catherine.

UST started the final round in fourth place. Morgan McCorkle shot 77-84/161 and took 16th place. Kate Drimel shot 86-80/166 to tie for 20th place. Kate Balison shot 89-82/171 to tie for 29th.

 

Saturday story

The St. Thomas women play today and Sunday in Iowa at the Wartburg Spring Invite. Emily Thul's even-par 72 led the Toms to a 324 score on Saturday's first round, and they sit just three strokes out of the lead in fifth place with 18 holes to go.

Morgan McCorkle shot 77 and is tied for fifth place. Kate Drimel shot 86.
