Thul, Drimel get Women's Golf academic awards

St. Thomas graduate Emily Thul and rising senior Kate Drimel were named to the 2018 Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholar team with grade-point averages above 3.75.

Thul, a native of Alexandria, Minn., graduated in May with a degree in Psychology. She posted a 77.7 stroke average this season and tied for 27th at the 72-hole NCAA Championships. A four-year varsity starter, Thul had 15 UST career finishes in the top five, including three medalist wins. She tied for second individually in the October 2017 MIAC Championships, and recorded four rounds of 74 or better in spring 2018 matches. She recorded 15 rounds of 75 or better on her UST career. Thul was named the MIAC Player of the Year as a sophomore in 2015-16 with the lowest stroke average among 10 conference teams, and in May 2016 led St. Thomas to an eighth-place NCAA finish.

Drimel, a native of St. Michael, Minn., majors in Marketing Management. She holds one of the top gpas among St. Thomas' returning student athletes. Drimel had an 82.3 stroke average in 2017-18.
