St. Thomas freshman Claudia Kim finished second in a field of 71 players at the two-day, 36-hole St. Ben's tournament in Becker, Minn.
Tommie Women's Golf posted a 329 score on Sunday to go with Saturday's 333 round. The Purple shared fifth place out of 11 teams. The Toms and Gustavus both finished just three shots behind fourth place St. Ben's, and eight behind third-place St. Catherine.
In her first collegiate competition, Claudia Kim had Sunday's low round of 75. Her 78-75/153 score closed two shots behind medalist Alyssa Akiyama of Carleton (74-77/151).
Three other Tommie freshmen closed in the top 30: Cayla Kim shot 81 on Sunday and tied for 20th place; Kirsten Leonardi shot 81 and tied for 23rd place at 166; and Sophia Dooman shot 83 and tied for 26th at 169.
Tommie Women's Golf sits in a tie for fourth place out of 11 teams at the halfway point of the 36-hole St. Ben's Invite in Becker, Minn. Coach Sara Evens' team is five shots out of second with a score of 333 in their first competition of fall 2019.
Bethel (319), Carleton (328), St. Catherine (330), Gustavus and St. Thomas (333), St. Ben's (334) and St. Olaf (337) sit 1-2-3-4-6-7. The final 18 holes will be played on Sunday.
