W. Hockey drops opener, 4-1

Visiting UW-Eau Claire received goals from four different players and assists from eight others in Tuesday night's 4-1 win over St. Thomas in non-conference women's hockey play at St. Thomas Ice Arena in Mendota Heights.

St. Thomas (0-1) never led in its season-opening contest. Senior Kathryn Larson scored the Tommies' only goal on a power play in the final two minutes, assisted by Becca Zarembinski and Leah Schwartzman.

Freshman Erin Conolly stopped 28 of 29 shots for the Blugolds (3-0), who avenged one-goal losses to St. Thomas in 2014 and 2015.

Kenzie Torpy stopped 25 of 29 shots for UST.

St. Thomas plays Saturday at UW-River Falls.
