Friday night brought two losses for St. Thomas hockey against Augsburg's men and women.
Saturday night had a better outcome for the Purple.
In Mendota Heights, Kathryn Larson scored a pair of goals as the Tommies scored a 4-2 victory over No. 10-ranked Augsburg, avenging a 3-0 loss the previous night. The Toms secured an MIAC playoff berth and is one point beind fourth-place Hamline.
In Minneapolis, the Tommies played in one of their highest scoring MIAC games in memory and came away with a 6-6 tie and a shootout win vs. the No. 11-ranked Auggie men.
UST gets two points to one for the Auggies, and that -- coupled with St. Mary's loss -- leaves St. Thomas and Augsburg tied for first place at 30 with two games to go. SMU is at 29 but has a bye next week.
The Tommies also wrapped up the program's 35th consecutive winning season.
All six goals and the lone shootout goal came from seven different Tommies. Charlie Donlin won the shootout in round three after three Auggies and two Toms were denied.
Andrew Rohkohl allowed no goals in the final 27:36 in net and three shootout rounds.
The Toms play St. Olaf next weekend while the Auggies face St. John's.
