Women's hockey rolls to big win

Rachel Werdin scored two goals to lead No. 10-ranked St. Thomas to a 6-1 win over St. Olaf in Friday's MIAC women's hockey clash in Mendota Heights.

The Tommies (12-3-5 overall, 8-1-4 MIAC) ran their MIAC unbeaten streak to 11 (7-0-4).

Paige Kittelson played the first 56 minutes in goal and stopped 19 of 20 shots. Allison Borgstrom and Alyssa Wallace each contributed a goal and two assists.

St. Thomas remains one point behind first-place Hamline, a 4-3 road winner at Concordia.

St. Thomas and St. Olaf play again Saturday at 2 p.m. in Northfield.
