No-frenzy Kenzie does it again in W. Hockey win

Freshman Anna Solheim and Heidi Hannula scored the tying and go-ahead goals in the second period and senior Kenzie Torpy stopped 27 of 28 shots as No. 8-ranked St. Thomas Women's Hockey scored a 3-1 home win over Augsburg Saturday afternoon in Mendota Heights.

The Tommies (10-0 overall, 6-0 MIAC) used a late-empty-net goal by Maddy Fiedler to gain some breathing room in the hard-fought weekend sweep. UST won 2-0 Friday night over the Auggies (5-3-1, 4-2) on the road. St. Thomas had no power-play chances on the weekend and had just three penalties of their own.

Torpy had her streak of scoreless minutes in net end at 354 when St. Thomas surrendured a power-play goal early in period two. But the the St. Thoams senior kept her cool and stopped 59 of 60 shots on the series. Today's power-play score was just the third goal she has allowed in 10 games this season.

The Tommie defense has been sharp throughout the calendar year and has allowed just 14 goals in the last 17 games dating back to January.

St. Thomas extended its NCAA-best unbeaten streak to 23 games (18-0-5) dating back to December 2017.
