OT loss ends long unbeaten streak for W. Hockey

Sam Auman and Rachel Werdin scored first-period goals, but Tommie Women's Hockey dropped a 3-2 overtime decision Saturday at No. 4-ranked Hamline. The Pipers scored 28 seconds into the 5:00 sudden-death overtime session.

The No. 1-ranked Tommies (22-1-2 overall, 15-1-2 MIAC) had a 37-game unbeaten streak halted (30-0-7). The Purple's last previous loss came in mid-December 2017 to ranked UW-River Falls.

St. Thomas secured the MIAC championship with Friday night's 3-2 comeback win over Hamline.

The Toms are the top seed for the five-team conference playoffs and are home Feb. 23 to face Thursday's 4-5 winner.
