No. 13-ranked Wheaton scored a 2-0 victory over St. Thomas Women's Soccer Friday in Salisbury, Md., in the season-opening contest for both teams. The teams endured a long weather delay and played the conclusion of the contest on a different field that had lights.
The Thunder, who scored twice in an early 10-minute span, had a 6-2 edge in shots on goal and a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks.
St. Thomas' 20-woman lineup that competed included two transfers and four freshmen.
St. Thomas concludes its trip with Saturday afternoon game there against Salem (Va.) College.
