A women's soccer battle of regional contenders played Wednesday in St. Paul ended in a 0-0 tie in two overtmes between Wartburg and No. 17-ranked St. Thomas.
The Knights (6-1-3) came into the day 4-0 this season against MIAC teams and receiving votes in one national poll. The tie ended St. Thomas' 13-game home win streak although the Tommies (6-2-1) were able to extend their home unbeaten streak to 18 games.
The non-conference game, played in the rain early and subsequently in drizzle at South Field, was close on the stat sheet. The Knights were unable to close out a couple of scoring chances, including two long shots that deflected off the crossbar, incuding one in the first overtime.
Sarah Pasternak had six saves for St. Thomas.
St. Thomas plays Saturday at unbeaten Bethel (3:30 p.m.).
