Junior Alex Howard on Tuesday was named MIAC Women's Swim-Dive Athlete of the Week.
The Stillwater, Minn., native contributed to five performances that rank first or second in the MIAC, including three in the top 32 nationally, in dual victories at Carleton and at St. Olaf.
Howard led off the 200 free relay that clocked 1:39.40, first in the MIAC and 13th nationally. She anchored the 200 medley that is ranked third in the MIAC and 21st nationally.
Howard's 200 free time of 1:55.22 is second in the MIAC. Her 200 back time of 2:14.43 is the fastest in the MIAC this season. Her 500 free time of 5:15.92 is second in the MIAC and 31st nationally.
Last winter at the MIAC Championships, Howard had a hand in six firsts to help St. Thomas repeat as team titlist. She went on to receive honorable mention All-America honors at nationals in the 400 free relay as part of a 14th-place national finisher.
Howard also received honorable mention All-America honors at nationals in 2016 as a freshman.
