W. Tennis finds success at ITA

St. Thomas Women's Tennis battled through injuries and found some success at the ITA Regional and Gustavus Fall Invite tournaments contested this weekend in St. Peter:

  • Freshman Paige McLeod won the No. 1 singles draw in the Fall Invitational as she defeated players from UW-Whitewater, Gustavus, UW-Eau Clare, St. Norbert and UW-Oshkosh.
  • Senior Paige Becher played in in the ITA Regional and topped Luther College's No. 1 Jackie Cychosz in the second round and St. Olaf's No. 1 Margaret Zimmerman in the third round before losing to Jillian Wallace of UW-Whitewater.
  • Junior Jenna Czarnecki def Angelica Emmanouil of Carthage and Lauren Welch of Luther before defaulting the next round due to an injury.
  • Caitlin Bakke and Jenna Zimmerman had to default with injuries after winning first-round matches.
  • Freshman twins Paige McLeod and Taylor McLeod defeated doubles teams from UW-Oshkosh and Macalester before losing to the region's second-seeded team, Max Mella/Angelica Emmanouil of Carthage.
